Winnipeg police are asking for help from the public to find a man who randomly sexually assaulted a woman in the city’s Wolseley neighbourhood. According to police, the incident took place on Sunday at approximately 10:30 p.m. They say a woman walking south on Toronto Street crossed Portage Avenue near Picardy Place when an unknown man grabbed her. Police allege the man threatened to harm the woman if she screamed, pulled her into a nearby alcove, choked her and sexually assaulted her. The woman’s property was also stolen. Police are looking for a man described as being in his 30s, with a heavy build and short, spiky dark hair, standing approximately six feet tall. He was shirtless at the time and wearing black shorts and black shoes. The Sex Crimes unit is investigating and asks anyone with information or surveillance footage from the area to call 204-986-6245 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-6477.
