Extreme cold, freezing wind chills force school closures around Manitoba

Terri Gale has your Friday morning look at the weather.

While much of Manitoba continues to deal with extreme cold, some school divisions have cancelled classes or bus transportation for the day.

The following schools are closed and buses are cancelled for Friday, Jan. 23, 2026:

Swan Valley School Division – Buses are not running. Schools and offices are open.

Fort La Bosse School Division – All schools closed.

Interlake School Division – All schools closed.

Brandon School Division – Buses are not running outside of Brandon but will be operating within the city. All schools are open. Attendance is at parental discretion where travel is required.

Prairie Rose School Division – Region B buses are cancelled. Schools will remain open.

Red River Valley School Division – All schools are closed.

Rolling River School Division – Buses are cancelled. Schools remain open.

Division scolaire franco-manitobaine – Buses are cancelled for Saint-Lazare, La Source, Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes , École Saint-Joachim, École Pointe-des-Chênes, École Sainte-Agathe, École Saint-Jean-Baptiste, École Réal-Bérard, Lagimodière and Gabrielle-Roy. All schools remain open.
