A fire at a downtown Winnipeg apartment building sent one person to the hospital on Thursday morning. According to the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service, the fire began just before 5:15 a.m. in the 300 block of Vaughan Street. At the scene, firefighters found heavy smoke and flames coming from the building. Crews located one person inside the building and brought them to safety Paramedics took one person to the hospital in critical condition. Meanwhile, firefighters launched and interior attack, bringing the fire under control around 6:15 a.m. Vaughan Street was closed in all directions but has since been reopened. The fire is under investigation.
