Residents of Deep River are being told to shelter in place following a reported stabbing, according to police. The Deep River Police Service says in a social media post that officers are currently responding to an active incident involving a “person of interest.” Ontario Provincial Police says it is assisting with local police and that residents can expect a heavy police presence in the area of McElligott Drive. Residents of the town are being asked to stay indoors, keep doors and windows locked, and avoid the area until further notice. OPP are asking the public to avoid the area while the investigation continues. Police say further information would be coming. Deep River is located about 190 kilometres northwest of downtown Ottawa.
