One killed, one injured in crash with semi: Manitoba RCMP

One person has died, and another was seriously injured following a crash involving a semi on Highway 59.

A 76-year-old man has died following a crash involving a semi truck on Highway 59 Tuesday morning.

According to Manitoba RCMP, officers responded to the intersection of Highway 59 and Provincial Road 311 in the RM of Hanover at 8:50 a.m.

Investigators say a vehicle travelling south on Highway 59 veered into the north lane and collided with a semi truck.

The driver of the vehicle, who RCMP said was from Grande Pointe, was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger, a 73-year-old woman from Grande Pointe, was taken to hospital by STARS Air Ambulance with serious injuries.

The semi-truck driver, a 47-year-old man from La Broquerie, was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
