Several Regina and Saskatoon neighbourhoods will transition from door-to-door delivery to a community mailbox system in 2027. This decision will affect 24,000 addresses in Regina and 21,000 in Saskatoon, according to a Wednesday announcement from Canada Post. The conversion will apply to Regina postal codes starting with S4N, S4S and S4V. For Saskatoon, the affected postal codes will be those starting with S7L and S7M. “Within the next couple of weeks, each affected resident in Regina will receive the first of many communications from Canada Post. We will continue to keep residents and local officials informed every step of the way,” the announcement read. The national postal service is in the midst of transitioning four million addresses to a community mailbox system over the next five years, as part of its announced modernization and cost-saving plans. The service has announced the conversion of 55 communities so far for 2026 and 2027. The 2026-27 conversion schedule can be found on its website. “The move to community mailboxes will increase security by putting nearly all mail and parcels delivered by Canada Post under lock and key. It will also reduce costs, as delivering to the door costs significantly more than to a community mailbox,” Canada Post stated. “Nearly three-quarters of Canadian addresses already receive mail and parcels through some form of secure, centralized delivery such as community mailboxes, apartment lobby boxes and post office boxes.” Regina neighbourhoods Postal codes that begin with S4N encompass a large swath of eastern and central Regina, including addresses in the Glencairn, Glenelm, Al Ritchie, and Dominion Heights neighbourhoods. Postal codes starting with S4S include most of Regina’s south end, like Hillsdale, Whitmore Park and Albert Park as well as areas like Lakeview and Normandy Heights. Postal codes beginning with S4V include southeastern neighbourhoods like Gardiner Heights, Wood Meadows, Gardiner Park, Arcola East Noth Side and Arcola East-South Side. Saskatoon neighbourhoods For Saskatoon, the transition affecting addresses beginning with postal codes starting with S7L will affect areas such as Dundonald, Westview, Confederation Park, Mt. Royal, Hudson Bay Park and Massey Place. Addresses beginning with S7M include Parkridge, Montgomery Place, Meadowgreen, Holiday Park and Riversdale.
