If you are heading to a provincial park this long weekend, the Manitoba government has some good news for you. Access to all provincial parks will be free this weekend. “Labour Day weekend is a chance for Manitobans to enjoy time outdoors with family and friends before the busy fall season begins,” said Mike Moyes, the Environment and Climate Change Minister, in a news release. “Whether you’re camping, hiking, paddling, spending time at the beach or attending an interpretive program, we welcome everyone to make the most of the long weekend in Manitoba’s provincial parks.” Vehicle permits will not be needed for all visitors from Sept. 4 to 7. The province notes camping fees still apply and the entrance fee still applies to national parks. There are a number of family-friendly events people can enjoy during the long weekend, from guided hikes to campfire talks, the province said.
