Winnipeg soccer fans didn’t let Sunday’s heat stop them from enjoying the 2026 FIFA World Cup final over the weekend. Hundreds gathered at True North Square to watch Spain win its first World Cup since 2010, defeating Argentina 1-0 in extra time. “We’ve never seen the place this packed before,” said Lourdes Federis with Winnipeg Night Market, which organized the watch party. Federis estimated 600 people came out to the watch party Sunday. Following the watch party, a salsa dance event took place in the square. -With files from CTV’s Milan Lukes
