Hundreds of pigs die in southwestern Manitoba barn fire

Hundreds of sows are dead after fire destroyed a barn in Kola, Man. Tuesday evening.

Firefighters from the RM of Wallace Fire Department arrived at the property around 10 p.m., March 24, 2015 to find the barn fully engulfed in flames.

About 1,500 hogs and 700 piglets died in the fire.

Kola is about 320 km west of Winnipeg.

RCMP members from Virden and Melita also attended.

The cause of the fire does not appear to be suspicious, said RCMP.
