Colleen Bready’s forecast: Temperatures to rise in the south, drop in the north

As temperatures rise in southern Manitoba, they will be falling in northern regions on Thursday afternoon.

Unseasonably mild daytime highs above the freezing mark are on tap across the south.

With the warmer air, a low in Saskatchewan will send mixed precipitation mainly into central Manitoba on Thursday afternoon.

There is a low chance rain showers or snow showers could reach areas as far south as Winnipeg later in the afternoon, but the better bet is that precipitation will briefly swing through in the evening.

Meanwhile, Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) said a separate low pressure system moved into Ontario this morning, after leaving a swath of 5 to 10 centimetres of snow across the north on Wednesday.

Northwest regions will see light snow, while flurries fly in the northeast on Thursday, as temperatures drop throughout the afternoon.

On Thursday night, the sky will clear first over the north, then across the south overnight.

Sunshine will return on Friday, but so will colder temperatures. But it will be a one-day dip – milder temperatures will return in time for the weekend, as will cloudy conditions in the south.
