Mounties in Nanaimo are investigating after someone in a vehicle fired shots toward people in a local park last week. Police say the incident happened in Knowles Park near Old Victoria Road and Ranier Street around 8:40 p.m. Wednesday. There were several people in the suspect vehicle, a white Audi, which fled the scene immediately after the shooting, according to police. Thankfully, there were no reported injuries. “Investigators believe the shooting was targeted, and there is no ongoing risk to the public,” the Nanaimo RCMP wrote in a statement issued Friday. “The scene has been processed by the forensic investigators and police are actively pursuing leads, which includes locating the suspect vehicle.” Police asked anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area or has dash-cam or CCTV video to call the Nanaimo detachment at 250-754-2345.
