A multi-vehicle motorcycle crash in the Kawartha Lakes has left three men dead, according to police. Police say a 65-year-old Barrie man, an 18-year-old Peterborough man and a 72-year-old Dunchurch man have died after the crash. Emergency crews responded to a multi-vehicle crash involving four motorcycles and a passenger vehicle at Highway 7 and New Heights Road in the Town of Omemee on Saturday night at around 6, according to police. Investigators say the 18-year-old, who was the driver of the passenger vehicle, and the 72-year-old, who was driving one of the motorcycles, were both pronounced dead at the scene. Another motorcyclist, the 65-year-old man, was airlifted to a Toronto trauma centre where he was later pronounced dead. According to police, the other motorcyclists were two men from Sudbury – a 30-year-old and a 36-year-old. The 30-year-old was first taken to a local hospital with injuries and later transported to a Toronto trauma centre, while the 36-year-old was treated and released at the scene. The road was closed for several hours while crews were on scene and reopened shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday. Police continue to investigate. “The cause of the collision and whether any charges will be laid have not yet been determined,” the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP tells CTV News. Anyone with any information or dashcam footage is asked to come forward to police.
