Colleen Bready’s forecast: Sunshine coming and going, more snow possible

Wednesday is the type of day where sunshine may come and go in Winnipeg and southern Manitoba.

A minor atmospheric disturbance has something to do with that. A few flurries will pass through several areas. Once they move on, sunshine or a mix of sun and cloud should return.

Temperatures are a few degrees colder today than on Tuesday, but not too far off of seasonal norms.

Much of northern Manitoba will enjoy sunshine on Wednesday afternoon, too.

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has ended cold warnings for the most northern regions after a bitterly cold arctic air mass has finally loosened its grip.

Sunshine will also spill over into most of northwestern Ontario on Wednesday, with daytime highs around -5 C.

Ahead on Wednesday night, ECCC said a low from Alberta will move into northern Manitoba, bringing a few centimetres of snow to northwestern and north-central areas.

On the heels of the northern low, the weather agency said a fast-moving Alberta clipper will form overnight Wednesday that will head east, bringing snow to southern Manitoba on Thursday.

ECCC said snowfall accumulations are expected to be five to 15 centimetres over a 12 to 24 hour period.
