Regina Ukrainian Hall damaged in structure fire

Regina’s Ukrainian Hall has been damaged in a structure fire Saturday morning.

The fire on the 1700 block of John Street was reported at 6:38 a.m., according to an X post by Regina Fire and Protective Services (RFPS).

When crews responded, they found fire on the second floor and in the roof. A search of each floor was completed and no injuries were reported.

Crews asked the public to avoid the area while they worked to get the fire under control.

RFPS shared an update in another post, confirming the fire was under control.

However, crews are still asking the public to avoid the area as salvage and overhaul continue. As of 11:30 a.m., an inspector was on scene to determine the cause of the fire.

A post on the Ukrainian National Federation of Canada - Regina Branch Facebook page showed the damage to the building, as fire crews responded.

Another post on the organization’s page thanked fire crews for their work.

A post from the German Club said their hearts go out to their neighbours at the Ukrainian Hall, and asked people to watch for ways to help the organization recover.
