Someone cue the Eurythmics because here comes the rain again. Rain or showers will reach most of Manitoba, including Winnipeg, on Wednesday afternoon. An approaching shortwave or rippling low pressure disturbance in the mid to upper levels of the atmosphere is triggering showers in western Manitoba. Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) said the shortwave will move quickly throughout the day and will produce increasingly intense rainfall as it crosses southern Manitoba. The weather agency said 10-20 millimetres (mm) of rainfall is expected across the south by this evening. Later tonight, the sky will clear and winds will diminish, which could produce fog overnight. Rain and showers will also fall across much of northern Manitoba on Wednesday. Rainfall amounts will be lower than in the south, but there is a risk of thunderstorms across the north. Watch out for fog developing overnight in the northwest while rain continues in the northeast. Meanwhile, northwestern Ontario will enjoy sunshine or a mix of sun and cloud on Wednesday before showers will likely reach the region tonight. Some much-welcomed sunshine will blanket most of Manitoba on Thursday.
