After a sunny end to the summer season, the first day of fall will turn soggy in southern Manitoba on Wednesday. An approaching low pressure system is expected to bringing showers first to the southwest corner this afternoon, before likely spreading to other regions, including Brandon and Dauphin. There is also a risk of thunderstorms in some southwestern communities, including Brandon and Melita. Although not certain, there is a good chance showers will reach Winnipeg and the southeast over the course of Wednesday evening. The risk of thunderstorms will shift this evening to southeastern areas closer to the U.S border. There is a good chance showers or drizzle will continue through the night into Thursday across much of the south. Northwestern Ontario will enjoy a sunny start to fall on Wednesday. Showers are expected to reach the region late Wednesday night. Showers could also reach central Manitoba overnight, including Norway House and Island Lake. Until then, central and northern regions will generally see sunny starts to autumn Wednesday, with unseasonably mild temperatures into low 20s continuing.
