Colleen Bready’s forecast: A rainy weekend ahead for parts of Manitoba

If you’ve enjoyed the current stretch of unseasonably warm weather in southern Manitoba, you will get more of the same on Friday.

Most areas, including Winnipeg and Brandon, will see highs in the low 20s.

Temperatures will soar even higher into the 26 C or 27 C range in southeastern regions closer to the international border.

Warm weather Friday comes after yet another round of temperatures records were set Thursday in several southern Manitoba communities.

Of note, Dominion City soared up to a sweltering 29.3 C Thursday, easily surpassing the previous record of 26.7 C set 68 years ago in 1957.

As for sky conditions Friday, most southern areas will see a mix of sun and clouds, with gusty winds from the east and northeast.

There is also a risk of thunderstorms which could intensify overnight.

In northern Manitoba, most regions will see temperatures reach the mid to upper teens Friday. Areas furthest north will see more sunshine compared to cloudier conditions further south.

Rain is heading for southern Manitoba this weekend. The southwest may see showers Saturday, but the approaching system is poised to bring most of the precipitation to the southeast, including Winnipeg, likely arriving Saturday night and continuing on Sunday.

Sunshine returns next week to the south with much cooler temperatures that will feel much more like fall has truly arrived.
