A 27-year-old Manitoba woman is facing an impaired driving charge after police say she provided breath samples that were over twice the legal limit. Manitoba RCMP say the incident happened April 18 just before 4 p.m. when officers responded to a complaint about an erratic driver on Highway 6 in the RM of Coldwell. According to Mounties, there were already three units on the roadway carrying out traffic enforcement at the time and they eventually came across the suspect vehicle in the RM of Rosser. Once pulled over, officials say they found three drunk people inside the vehicle. They were headed to Winnipeg for an event and drinking on the way, police allege. The driver, a 27-year-old woman from Grand Rapids, Man., was arrested. Officers say she provided breath samples that were 2.5 times over the legal limit. According to police, she was charged with impaired driving over 80 mg%, the vehicle was impounded, her driver’s licence was suspended, and she was served with three provincial offence notices totalling over $1,500 in fines. The passengers, a 29-year-old man and a 45-year-old woman who were also from Grand Rapids, were released without charges. None of the allegations have been tested in court.
