City of Winnipeg to begin plowing major streets

The City of Winnipeg will begin plowing its major streets on Wednesday morning as snow continues to fall around the city.

In a news release, the city said it schedules its snow plowing operations based on a priority system that begins with major routes, then moves to non-regional bus routes and collector streets and ends with residential streets.

Drivers are asked to drive to the weather conditions and use caution near heavy equipment. They are also reminded that the annual winter route parking ban is now in effect, which means there is no parking on designated streets between 2 a.m. and 7 a.m.

The city added it will also continue to plow sidewalks and pathways.
