Alleged hand-to-hand drug deal caught by police

An alleged street drug transaction led to a slew of charges against one man.

Around 4:20 p.m. on Friday, Winnipeg police were patrolling in the area of Ellice Avenue and Hargrave Street when officers saw what they believed to be a hand-to-hand drug transaction.

A 37-year-old man was taken into custody. Officers seized a loaded nine-millimetre Browning FN High Power handgun, about $490 in cash, and individually packaged crack cocaine and fentanyl.

He is now facing eight charges, including firearms and weapons-related, and drug-related offences. The charges have not been tested in court and he was detained in custody.
