The Windsor Police Service is searching for a suspect, wanted in connection with a ‘violent robbery’ targeting a senior. The suspect was involved in a bail scam and robbery in the Forest Glade area, according to police. On Thursday, the suspect went to the home of an elderly person in the 10000 block of Palms Crescent, allegedly saying the senior’s relative was in jail and needed bail money. The victim was convinced to give $8,500 in cash. WPS said the suspect went back to the home on Friday, demanding more money. When the victim refused, officers said the suspect forced his way inside, assaulting the senior, before running from the scene. The suspect is described as a white man, around 18 to 25 years old with a thin build and long, brown hair. At the time, he was wearing a dark sweater over a white dress shirt and dark pants. Police said he might have been wearing a high school uniform. If you recognize the suspect, you are asked to contact the Major Crimes Unit at 519-255-6700 ext. 4830. Anonymous tips can be sent to Crime Stoppers at 519-258-8477 or online. In light of the scam, police are looking to raise awareness on scams that can target seniors using fear and urgency. Scammers could say there is immediate payment required to prevent jail time or legal consequences.
