A barn on a dairy farm in Essa caught fire Friday night. Fire crews say New Tecumseth fire responded to a reported barn fire on 5 Sideroad at around 6:05 p.m. When crews arrived, there were flames coming from one of multiple barns at a large Holstein farm, New Tecumseth fire tells CTV News. The fire service called in additional resources from Essa and Adjala-Tosorontio Fire to help control it. Fire Chief Dan Heydon says firefighters did an offensive interior attack and contained the blaze to one section of the barn but flames still spread to the second level and roof area. After about an hour, Heydon says crews had the fire under control and all fire services cleared the scene. The animals were moved out of the area and there were no injuries. While there is no cause of the fire or an estimated damage cost at this time, the property owner is working to restore milking operations.
