Two arrested in break-and-enter, identity fraud investigation: WPS

Two people have been arrested following a break-and-enter and identity fraud investigation in the city.

Just after 10 a.m. on April 25, the Windsor Police Service was called to a break-in at a home in the 3100 block of Fletcher Crescent. Police said a suspect went into a vehicle that was parked at the home and stole a wallet and several other items, including headphones, a baby stroller, and a garage door opener.

The garage door opener was then allegedly used to get into the garage, leading to an extension cord being taken.

Following the incident, more than $600 worth of expenses were charged to the victim’s credit card.

On Tuesday just before 5 p.m., police found the wanted suspect and arrested him in the 2600 block of Howard Avenue.

The 31-year-old man has been charged with:

• Break-and-enter with intent to commit an indictable offense
• Theft under $5,000
• Four counts of possession of stolen property
• Four counts of possession/use of a stolen credit card
• Four counts of fraud not exceeding $5,000

A second suspect was arrested at a bank on Monday in the 2600 block of Tecumseh Road East. The WPS was called for a fraud in progress and said the suspect had the victim’s stolen ID. He was charged with 12 offenses.
