Essex now has eight new electric vehicle charging stations. Four of them are off Wilson Street, in the parking lot for Heritage Gardens Park with the other four at the Harrow Arena. Town officials say the Level 2 low range chargers cost $3 per hour. The $110,000 installation was fully funded by Aviva Canada and Earth Day Canada. “As more residents and visitors transition to electric vehicles, this investment ensures our municipality is ready to support that shift and contribute to a cleaner environment for generations to come,” Mayor Sherry Bondy is quoted in a town news release. “These new charging stations mark an important step in building a more sustainable future for our community.”
