Town of Essex offers tips for flooding

After heavy rainfall, Harrow and Colchester are experiencing flooding. CTV Windsor’s Robert Lothian has more.

Heavy rainfall has led to flooding in the Harrow and Colchester area, according to the Town of Essex. Crews are working to make sure all pumps are running as necessary.

The town is offering tips for those seeing flooding:

• Avoid driving through deep water and debris
• Ensure your sump pump is working properly
• Clear gutters and drains
• Move furniture, valuables, and important documents to a safe place
• Don’t go into your basement if you think water has risen above electrical outlets and appliances
• If you smell natural gas or notice other signs of a gas leak, leave the building and immediately call 911

Essex County Road 50 is closed between County Road 41 and Wright Sideroad due to flooding in the area.

All emergencies should be called into 911. But if you have a flooding related issue, you are asked to call Town Hall at 519-776-7336 ext. 1100.
