Shake Shack’s first location in Alberta opens May 11. The American fast-food chain will start serving burgers, hot dogs – and of course, milkshakes – at Chinook Centre on Monday. Shake Shack started as a single hot dog cart in New York City in 2001. Now, there are more than 400 locations globally. Officials say the Calgary location will feature Alberta-exclusive menu items, including: “Behind each Calgary-exclusive item is a network of local partners who share Shake Shack’s approach to quality and care,” said a news release. “Collaborations with Beretta Farms, Pie Junkie, Prairie Berries and Burwood Distillery help shape a menu that puts a uniquely Calgary spin on Shake Shack classics.” The location features indoor and outdoor murals by Calgary-based artist Irene Neyman. It’s located on the second level of Chinook, near the food court, close to Entrance Nine.
