A motion to explore temporary no-parking restrictions along Tecumseh Road near Lesperance Road, aimed at easing traffic congestion, has been denied by Tecumseh town council. The proposal, tabled by Joe Bachetti, called on administration to investigate removing or limiting on-street parking near the intersection to create an extended right-turn lane and provide more space for vehicles to pull over during heavy traffic periods. Bachetti argued the change would help reduce backups caused by ongoing construction projects in surrounding areas, including lane reductions at Banwell Road and the E.C. Row Expressway overpass. However, council voted against the motion Monday night. Opposing the proposal were Gary McNamara, Brian Houston, James Dorner, Ricardo Tonial and Alicia Higgison. Supporting the measure were Bachetti and Tania Jobin. The debate followed growing frustration from residents over traffic delays in the town’s core. Bachetti said he’s heard repeated complaints from drivers missing appointments and school pickups due to congestion on Tecumseh Road.
