The Windsor Police Service is looking for a suspect wanted in connection to a racist assault investigation. On March 14, police were called with a report of an assault in the 1400 block of Ouellette Avenue. Officers said the investigation determined that earlier that morning, a man was attacked while working as a rideshare driver. Just after 1 a.m., the driver picked up a woman in Windsor’s east end. During the ride, the suspect allegedly said racist and hateful remarks at the driver, ‘verbally berating him’. The trip was safely finished in the west end. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries, police said. The WPS said the name registered under the account was believed to be a different one than the woman’s identity. Anyone who can identify the suspect, a white woman, around 50 to 60 years old, with blonde hair and glasses, is asked to contact the WPS. She was seen wearing a white puffer jacket and a light-coloured winter headband during the incident. WPS can be contacted at 519-255-6700 ext. 4830.
