Snow squall watch in effect for Chatham-Kent

A yellow snow squall watch is in effect for Chatham-Kent, according to Environment Canada.

Snow squalls could come to the area Wednesday night. Reduced visibility is likely with heavy, blowing snow.

Environment Canada estimates 10 to 20 centimetres of snowfall in the region, with higher amounts possible. This is expected to last into Thursday.

Wednesday night: Flurries, risk of snow squalls over northeastern sections. Local amount 2 to 4 centimetres, 5 centimetres possible in the event of a snow squall. Wind north 30 km/h, gusting up to 50 km/h. Low -10 C, wind chill -19 C overnight.

Thursday: Flurries ending near noon, then mainly cloudy with a 40 per cent chance of flurries. Risk of snow squalls over northeastern sections in the morning. Wind west 30 km/h gusting to 50 km/h. High -8 C, wind chill -20 C.

Thursday night: Increasing cloudiness in the evening. Wind west 30 km/h. Low -11 C, wind chill -21 C in the evening, -15 C overnight.

Friday: Periods of snow. High 0 C.

Friday night: Cloudy with a 40 per cent chance of flurries. Low -3 C.
