Two people are facing charges after a police chase ending in a crash which closed the High Level Bridge in the early hours of Saturday. Edmonton Police Service (EPS) closed the bridge just after midnight on Saturday for traffic control after a collision. It was reopened by 6:30 a.m. In an updated news release, EPS says officers spotted a blue Chevy Cruze driving on sidewalks and in the wrong direction on roads near 118 Street and Kingsway Avenue around 10 p.m. Friday. Police stopped the car on the High Level Bridge and arrested the driver, a 24-year-old man, as well as his 21-year-old female passenger. The man was taken to hospital with minor, non-life-threatening injuries and now faces charges that include dangerous driving, criminal flight and possession of a controlled substance. The woman is facing warrant-related charges. The investigation is ongoing.
