A second standoff on Wednesday has led to assault charges laid against a 34-year-old man. Windsor police said just after 5 p.m. on Wednesday, they were called to an assault report at a home in the 600 block of Wyandotte Street West. The victim told police they left the home after they were allegedly assaulted and threatened by the suspect. Officers said the suspect allegedly threatened to burn down the house and set the victim’s cats on fire. The victim didn’t sustain life-threatening injuries. Windsor police said the suspect was thought to have a loaded, homemade gun, capable of firing shotgun shells. Police established a perimeter, calling in the Emergency Services Unit. Several hours of negotiation took place, leading to the suspect’s arrest. The 34-year-old man is now facing charges of assault, uttering threats to animals, and uttering threats to damage property. Police initially reported an active investigation in the 500 block of Janette Avenue and to avoid the area. This follows another arrest and similar charges laid after a three-hour standoff also on Wednesday, in the 3400 block of Byng Road.
