The OPP has been cleared of wrongdoing in the injury of a man in a Kingsville arrest. The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) said on May 25, 2026, an officer tried to arrest a 34-year-old man for alleged possession of drugs while behind the wheel of a vehicle, near Wigle Avenue and Main Street East. It said the man reportedly tried to drive away, struggling against the police officer trying to put on handcuffs. A struggle took place, before the man got free. The officer then used a conducted energy weapon, causing the man to lock up and fall face first into a curb. The man was put into handcuffs, then taken to hospital by paramedics. He suffered a neck fracture. The full report is available on the SIU’s website.
