Three people have been charged and more than $220,000 in drugs and cash have been seized following a joint police enforcement operation in Timmins. The investigation began in June and involved the Ontario Provincial Police, Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service and the Timmins Police Service. Investigators uncovered drug trafficking activity from a residence in the area of Birch Street South, “which was connected to a residence in the area of Rekela Street in Timmins,” police said in a Sept. 17 news release. “As a result of the investigation, two CDSA search warrants were obtained for the identified residences.” Raids took place Sept. 16 The search warrants were executed Sept. 16 by the Timmins police emergency response team. A Toronto man was arrested at the Birch Street South residence. “A search of the residence resulted in the seizure of a significant quantity and variety of illicit drugs, along with cash and other items,” police said. A man and a woman, both from Timmins, were arrested at the Rekela Street residence. “A large quantity of cash, prohibited weapons and other items were seized,” police said. “All three individuals were transported to the Timmins Police Service station.” At the Birch Street residence, police seized 190 grams of fentanyl, 240 grams of cocaine, 379 grams of crystal meth and 43 Percocet tablets. Cash, drugs, Taser, brass knuckles Officers also found $9,478.75 in cash, three cellphones and a digital scale. At the Rekela Street residence, police seized $89,177 in cash, a money counter, brass knuckles, a Taser, three cellphones and financial documents. “The estimated street value of the drugs seized during the investigation is $124,530,” police said. The trio has been charged with several counts of drug trafficking and one count each of possession of property obtained by crime worth more than $5,000. The two Timmins residents have also been charged with four weapons-related charges. All three remain in custody pending bail hearings. “The Timmins Police Service, OPP and Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service remain committed to working collaboratively to disrupt the trafficking of illicit drugs and protect the safety of our communities,” police said.
