Microchip scanning station aims to help lost pets get home

Community Veterinary Clinic – Windsor Essex is installing a new, publicly accessible microchip scanning station to help lost pets get home.

It will be located outside the clinic at 333 Holden Avenue in Windsor.

This 24-hour, weather-proof station is designed to allow community members to quickly scan found pets for microchips, helping to facilitate a swift and safe reunion with their families.

This free scanning station is the first of its kind in Windsor and Essex County, according to a news release from the clinic.

“The station is easy to use by anyone who finds a pet. Simply open the waterproof box to access the scanner, press the button, and run it over the pet’s neck and back. If a chip is found, the number will be shown on the scanner display,” said the news release.

Signage is available at the station advising how to trace the owner of the pet through the microchip number.
