Rumoured second Costco another step closer

Possible new east end development

Plans for a major east Windsor development cleared another hurdle Monday night.

A city committee signed off on plans for property along Catherine Street and Tecumseh Road east, that would bring a rumoured second Costco location.

A staff report shows plans pave the way for a 15,000 square metre building with the colour “Costco red,” as well as a gas bar.

“At the next council meeting you’re going to see some of that infrastructure cost because we’re going to be doing some of the sharing with the developers for making Catherine Street go all the way to tracks, so that’s the first phase to get good access into there, so I think it looks like the developer wants to move as fast as he can,” said Coun. Jim Morrison, chair of the Windsor development and heritage standing committee.

The proposal required planning amendments in order to move forward to council.

Council still needs to give final approval for the plan and rezoning.
