Southern Georgian Bay OPP lay impaired driving charges

OPP's Southern Georgian Bay detachment delayed re-opening.

OPP were busy to end the first full week in May following two separate impaired driving charges.

According to OPP, around 11:30 p.m. on May 6. Officers located a vehicle on County Road 93 at Lanigan Drive in Midland.

While speaking with the driver, a passerby noted the motorist was acting erratically.

The driver registered a fail on a approved screening device and was arrested.

As a result a 33-year-old from Penetanguishene was charged with operation while impaired, and operation over 80 milligrams of alcohol.

the accused was released with a court date in June.

The next day officers conducted a traffic stop on County Road 93 after seeing a vehicle missing a license plate.

during the investigation the driver displayed signs of impairment and a sobriety test was issued.

After an investigation the officer deemed the driver was impaired by drugs and arrested.

It was later confirmed by a drug recognition expert.

a 44-year-old from Tiny Township was charged with operation while impaired and faces a court date in June.
