LaSalle’s Strawberry Festival to take place this weekend

The preparations are almost complete for the 37th Strawberry Festival in LaSalle.

The popular event kicks off at the Vollmer Culture and Recreation Complex on Thursday and runs until Sunday. In 2024, the event drew 30,000 patrons.

Moreover, it’s not just about the carnival rides, games, food, live music, a parade, and fireworks. This is a celebration of strawberries. They are grown locally at Raymont’s Berries in Cottam and sold along with ice cream, a favourite treat of the four-day event.

Jordyn Rafuse, Supervisor of Recreation for LaSalle, is expecting yet another busy and well-attended festival and advises to get your tickets early online.

“So, if you go to [the Town of Lasalle website for the festival], it takes you directly to the website,” said Rafuse.

“And on there, we have our entertainment schedule. We do also have the ticket pricing for the carnival itself. And then the hours of operation.”

In addition, there are specials and featured entertainment savings that patrons can take advantage of during the festival’s run.

“Thursday night is our toonie night, where rides are a toonie plus tax, so they can purchase discounted tickets,” said Rafuse.

“So, they can come in, they can enjoy all of the rides.”
