Knife-wielding suspect arrested after charging officer: WPS

According to Windsor Police Service, one man was taken into custody after allegedly wielding a knife and threatening to harm others.

The incident happened at around 11:30 a.m. August 2. Officers responded to reports of a man on his way to a retail store to purchase knives to kill people. A second call to police informed officers he had entered a business in the 4100 block of Walker Road, and was allegedly yelling and causing a disturbance.

He then purchased a three-pack of knives and concealed them in his waistband, police say.

When police attempted to approach the suspect, he allegedly drew two knives from his waistband and raised on in an aggressive manner towards the officer.

The officer was able to de-escalate the situation and remand him into custody without any other problems.

The 28 year old was charged with:

• Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
• Carrying a concealed weapon
• Assaulting a peace officer
• Failure to comply with a release order
• Failure to comply with an undertaking
