Kingsville receives $7.4 million towards infrastructure for new homes

The Town of Kingsville is receiving $7.4 million from the provincial government to build necessary infrastructure for just under 3,000 homes in the area.

Anthony Leardi, MPP for Essex, made the announcement on Friday. The money is coming from the Housing-Enabling Core Servicing Stream, under the Municipal Housing Infrastructure program.

“This investment is about putting the dream of homeownership back in the hands of a generation,” said Leardi.

“Our government is committed to building more homes and ensuring our communities have the tools they need to grow and thrive.”

The town will put the money towards the West Side Collector Road – Heritage Road 2 West project, allowing more housing opportunities and supporting economic growth in Kingsville.

“We’re growing and we’re actively planning for the future,” said Dennis Rogers, Mayor of Kingsville.

“We are committed to investing in critical infrastructure to make sure our community strong, our residents and business are prioritized, and the long-term vision remains in sight. On behalf of Kingsville, we’re thrilled to receive this funding from the province.”

The provincial government will also invest an additional $175 million towards the Health and Safety Water Stream under the Municipal Housing Infrastructure program. It will protect homes by building, rehabilitating and expanding aging water, wastewater, stormwater, flood and erosion infrastructure.
