Kingston area MPP calls for government to repeal Bill 5, standing with Dresden

The Kingston and the Islands MPP Ted Hsu, who is also the Ontario Liberal Critic for Agriculture and Rural Affairs, said he stands with Dresden and demands the provincial government repeal Bill 5.

Hsu scolded Ford for not keeping his promise to Dresden, saying he ‘rammed through Bill 5, silencing local voices, stripping away environmental oversight, and fast-tracking a single landfill project for York 1.’

“Why single out Dresden?” Hsu questioned.

“That shows the Ford government doesn’t have a plan for landfills, and not having a plan is just a welcome mat for using money to influence government. You know what cancelling the environmental assessment means? You don’t need to talk to people affected, and you don’t need to consider alternatives. That’s convenient. I don’t think this government and their friends want to consider alternatives to Dresden.”

Hsu said the Ontario Liberals are calling for Ford to repeal Bill 5, restore the environment, and ‘deliver justice to Dresden’.
