Interim 2026 property tax bills in the mail, City of Windsor says

If you’re wondering why you haven’t yet received your property tax bill for the first half of 2026, the City of Windsor wants you to know it’s in the mail.

According to news release, the city says interim tax bills for 2026 have been mailed out. If residents do not receive their tax bill(s) by Feb. 6, or if people have questions in regard to the amount of the bill, residents can reach out to contact 311 or by email to [e-mail].

The interim billing amount is set at 50 per cent of the property taxes paid in 2025, while any changes resulting from Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) assessment updates will also be reflected on the tax bill.

The city says final 2026 property tax bills (municipal and education) will be mailed in June.

Due dates for regular tax payments are Feb. 18, March 18, and April 15, 2026.

Payment must be received by the city on or before the due dates, as failure to receive a tax bill does not mean that payment is not due.

Penalties and interest (which can add up to 15 per cent of the taxes on an annual basis) will be added for late payments.

Tax payments are accepted through a variety of methods:

• At an approved bank, credit union or trust company
• By phone or online banking
• By mail (cheques only)
• At the 350 City Hall Square West 1^st floor drop-off box (cheques only)

The city also offers three pre-authorized payment plans, and enrolment in a PAP can be completed at any time.
