Hotter temperatures ahead as sunshine returns after rainy Saturday

A mix of sun and cloud is expected across the region today, with warmer temperatures and breezy conditions ahead of a more unsettled weekend.

Environment Canada says skies will be sunny early Friday, becoming a mix of sun and cloud this morning. Winds will pick up from the southwest at 20 km/h, gusting to 40 km/h in the afternoon. The daytime high is expected to reach 21 C, with a UV index of 8, considered very high.

Clear conditions are forecast for Friday night, with increasing cloudiness developing before morning. Winds will ease through the evening, and the overnight low is expected to be 12 C.

Saturday will bring cloudy conditions with a 70 per cent chance of showers and a risk of a thunderstorm. Winds are expected to strengthen out of the south to 30 km/h late in the morning. Temperatures will climb to 25 C, with a humidex of 30 making it feel warmer.

Skies are expected to clear Saturday night, with a low of 12 C.

Conditions improve again Sunday, with sunny skies and a high of 27 C. Clear skies will continue into the night, with a low of 14 C.

A stretch of hot weather is expected to begin Monday, with sunshine and a high of 31 C. Overnight, there will be some cloudy periods with a low of 21 C.
