Funding to improve lives for seniors in LaSalle

LaSalle is now the fourth community in the region eligible to apply for funding every year for seniors’ programming.

The town is receiving $55,000 this year, which Mayor Crystal Meloche said will be used to increase offerings to seniors at the Vollmer Complex and at town hall.

The extra money will also help fund activities at a third location, the event centre on Front Road.

“A large amount of our residents are 50 plus and who want those opportunities to go and mingle and be with other people who are seniors and who are retired and join that same phase of life and so this is an opportunity to have that, to get people out,” said Meloche. “And it’s good for their health. It’s good for their well-being. It’s really just a great thing for our residents.”
