Four residents displaced, eight cats die after Sunday afternoon house fire in Windsor

Fire officials say two house fires were preventable. CTV’s Stefanie Masotti explains.

Four people have been displaced and eight cats have died after a residential fire in Windsor.

Crews responded to the 11000 block of Tecumseh Road east near Banwell Road around 12:30 p.m. on Sunday.

According to Windsor fire, an investigator confirmed the the fire started in the living room and the suspected cause is a candle.

One person was treated for smoke inhalation.
