An emergency alert was issued Saturday morning following a home invasion and shooting in Cape Breton. According to Nova Scotia Emergency Management, the incident happened in the Alexandra Street area in Sydney. The alert states: “Three unknown males entered a residence. A shooting occurred, one male victim.” No further details were provided on the victim. According to the alert, the suspects left the area in what is believed to be a Toyota Camry type vehicle. They left in an “unknown direction.” Around 11 a.m., an update was issued saying police believe they have located the suspect vehicle in the Woodbine Road area of Marion Bridge. “Police believe the three male suspects left the area on foot. Police are currently searching this area,” stated the update. Officials are asking the public to avoid the area and call 911 if they see the suspects.
