CK public health issues warning after ‘infection control lapse’ at Chatham nail salon

The Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit is urging customers of Chatham salon, Microfleek, to get a check up after proper disinfection practices weren’t followed.

Chatham-Kent Public Health (CKPH) is notifying the public of an “infection control lapse” at a nail salon due to disinfection practices not being up to par.

The notice is for Microfleek, located at 584 Queen St., following the services offered between Dec. 1, 2024, and March 6, 2026.

“Insufficient infection control procedures may increase the risk of transmitting blood-borne infections, such as HIV or Hepatitis, as well as bacterial or fungal infections of the skin or nails,” CKPH said.

Anyone who went to MicroFleek for services is urged to contact your healthcare provider for a clinical assessment. If you don’t have one, go to a walk-in clinic.
