Police investigating suspicious death in Saanich

Vancouver Island’s Major Crime Unit is investigating after a man was found dead in Saanich early Tuesday morning.

Saanich police were responding to a wellbeing check in the Royal Oak area around 5 a.m. when they found the body, according to a brief statement from the VIIMCU, which redescribed the man’s death as suspicious in nature.

Another man was arrested in relation to the case, police said.

“While the investigation is in its early stages, detectives have determined that there is no ongoing risk to the public,” the statement reads.
