Man killed in Nanaimo motorhome fire: RCMP

One person died and another was injured after a motorhome caught on fire in Nanaimo, B.C., on Wednesday, according to authorities.

Firefighters were sent to the 6800 block of Dover Road around 5 p.m., and were able to contain the blaze to the motorhome without damaging any other structures, the RCMP said in a statement.

One man was found dead inside the motorhome and the other was taken to hospital with injuries police say are not life-threatening.

“While the investigation is in the preliminary stages, the fire does not appear to be criminal in nature,” the Nanaimo RCMP wrote. “The scene was contained for the evening by police. (Thursday) morning, fire and police investigators attended and conducted a forensic examination of the motorhome.”
