Tires, trash illegally dumped in B.C. provincial park: officials

Provincial officials are appealing for information after piles of tires and trash were dumped in a provincial park in B.C.’s Cariboo region.

The illegally dumped debris was found in Ten Mile Lake Provincial Park near Quesnel, according to a social media post from the B.C. Conservation Officer Service.

“The dump site is located on the north side of Bjornson Road. Conservation officers are seeking public assistance with identifying who dumped the tires and waste,” the post said.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call 1-877-952-7277.

In 2024, B.C. updated legislation to allow for administrative penalties of up to $500,000 for violating regulations in provincial parks.

“Administrative penalties are financial penalties that can be used to address a wide range of violations, such as cutting down trees, feeding wildlife, dumping waste and operating a guiding business without a permit,” the province said in a statement at the time.
