Suspect sought after parking lot assault in Surrey, B.C.

Police are searching for a suspect after an apparent stranger assault in Surrey, B.C.

Officers responded Monday after the victim was reportedly attacked in the parking lot of the Central City mall on King George Boulevard.

The Surrey Police Service says the assault occurred at around 11:45 a.m., when a man approached the victim and asked if they wanted to buy a cellphone.

When the victim declined, the man allegedly assaulted the victim before leaving the area in a vehicle, police said.

The suspect is described as a dark-skinned man, between 40 and 50 years old, standing 5’10” tall with a heavy build.

Investigators say the man was wearing black shoes, tan-coloured pants, a light-coloured shirt and a black vest. He was also wearing a large gold chain necklace, police said.
